There are lots of useful websites that can offer heaps of information about pandemic planning. Here are a few of them.
Canterbury based information
www.cdhb.govt.nz is the website for the Canterbury DHB - your local District Health Board.
www.pegasus.org.nz is the website of Pegasus Health - a group representing local general practices including doctors, practice nurses, locums and practice managers. It has information on pandemic planning, what's happening locally, Tamiflu, how to keep your family safe, what to do if you are sick and a family checklist.
www.pandemicroadshow.org.nz will tell you about the Roadshow touring Canterbury and when you might find it in your neighbourhood.

Government departments
www.moh.govt.nz is the Ministry of Health website and has the latest information on pandemic planning as well as other health issues.
www.getthru.govt.nz offers great planning information for a pandemic and other emergencies including checklists and how to get ready (such as caring for sick and vulnerable people, storing water, getting your business ready).
CDEM pandemic planning links you to the New Zealand Ministry of Civil Defence & Emergency Managmeent (MCDEM) as well as a public education toolbox for community planning for any emergency.
www.med.govt.nz is the Ministry of Economic Development website. This site has an influenza pandemic planning section where you can download a business planning guide and a pandemic planning information kit to name just a couple of the available resources.
www.biosecurity.govt.nz is a website set up by the biosecurity division of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry (
www.maf.govt.nz) that has information on border control including their pandemic influenza response policy, as well as a fact sheet to download, FAQs, and media releases.
International sites of interest
www.pandemicpractices.org is a site created by the University of Minnesota, conceived and funded by The Pew Charitable Trusts. It aims to enhance public health preparedness for an influenza pandemic and conserve resources by sharing promising practices.
